lily stockman

Strawberry

Lily Stockman paints beautiful, detailed, stylized flowers. I've had her work bookmarked for months but just found it again. She hits the spot of art that's both pretty and interesting, in a way that I think a lot of contemporary art fails to be. So much work is either pretty and dismissed (often rightly so) as mere decoration, or it's Meaningful and Conceptual and Important...but not something you want on your living room wall. Stockman also keeps a blog about her work and her travels, and it's worth checking out for her beautiful photography. (All images from here.)

Her newer work is more geometric and just as pretty:

Carnations

You can also see a tour of her studio on The Makers.
