me elsewhere: fortique blog

I'm now officially a "Fortiste." Fortique, the Etsy-like listing site for creative services, posted a little Q&A with me on its blog. Click on over for a little day-in-the-life conversation.

ayelet iontef

I first noticed Ayelet Iontef's work on Artfully Walls. Her abstract floral-inspired prints (and her color choice) are right in my wheelhouse. A little online scouting brought me to her Etsy shop, Alloverprint, where the Israeli artists sells scarves and small paper goods, all in my favorite color.

affordable art fair

Ron Piller,  Molly and Polly 3

I wish I'd known sooner about the Affordable Art Fair. Its mission: "an inspiring and friendly atmosphere in which you can find thousands of original paintings, prints, sculptures and photographs all under one roof, ranging from $100-$10,000, with more than half priced under $5,000." It's too late for me to go up to New York this week, but I'm putting it on the calendar for next year. Here are a few of the pieces I'd definitely seek out in person.

Jacky Tsai, Stained Glass Skull
Signe & Genna Grushovenko, Bike Girl Madras
Esther Rosa, Bubbles 1
Amy Greenan, Pleasure Craft

lola donoghue on etsy

I don't usually go to Etsy for original paintings, but it's turning out to be a pretty good source, if you just put in the time to look around. Irish painter Lola Donoghue offers both originals and giclee prints in her abstract, slightly kooky, candy-hued style. Maybe it's because of all the pink (sassy, not sweet), but I can see these in a teenage girl's room.

up in the air somewhere on etsy

Susan Dwyer, a Chicago sculptor, also makes small ceramic and paper home goods that she sells under the Etsy shop Up in the Air Somewhere. This ombre wall piece is really cool:

You can see a similar sensibility (and feel for color) in her spare, sculptural Etsy pieces:

the floodline

I can't find much information about The Floodline; its main site is intriguingly plain. But I suspect this artist is behind these washy, colorful, contemplative paintings.

vintage venus

Working on a client project yesterday, I found this amazing Australian shop for vintage poster designs: Vintage Venus. They're reproductions—which means only the designs are vintage. But it also means the prices are totally accessible. Among the more familiar images of pasta and cruise ships are these sleek, bold advertisements for travel and food. Best of all, you can order them fairly large, so they really make a room.
