When one of my favorite Pinterest pinners (is that a thing?) pinned Judy Ledgerwood the other day, her work looked so familiar—I was sure I'd written about her already. A quick look at my archives said I hadn't. (Maybe it seemed familiar because it incorporates so many things I like: pattern, flowers, pretty color.) So here she is: art professor at Northwestern, painter of beautiful semi-abstract, pattern-y, often floral-ish images.

brent wadden

Forgive my blog delinquency! I've seen so much good art lately, and found so little time to write about it. Now, in the interest of butching things up around here (after so much pretty work by women), let's look at these boldly geometric woven pieces by Brent Wadden, a Canadian living in Berlin. On first glance I thought they were paintings, but they're actually loomed cotton. I like how Wadden reverse-appropriates a "lowly" craft like weaving, and does it on a huge scale (some of his pieces are six feet across).

Amanda Reeves's paintings perfectly satisfy my recent (oh, who am I kidding? constant) craving: art that's minimalist but definitely pretty. (Serena and Lily also carries her work.)

karin olah

Karin Olah uses printmaking techniques and natural fabrics in her abstract quilt-inspired paintings. The results are beautiful.

kate zaremba on etsy

I haven't done at Etsy post in a while, and though Kate Zaremba's prints and paper goods have a similar geometry to the Ferm Living pieces I showed you last week, they're so good, I couldn't resist. Her cards have a precious smallness to them; I'd frame a single one and nestle it on a shelf. (Or you could, you know, send one.)
